The Giraffe Collective

A smirking giraffe, 12 cm x 12 cm, acrylic on 300gsm mixed media paper

I seem to have accidentally become the personal portrait painter to the world’s most gossipy herd of giraffes.

My approach with this series was simple: slap on generous dollops of thick, messy paint, fling a few joyful splatters across the paper, and capture that exact split-second where a giraffe realizes you’re looking back at it. Art theorists might call it an exploration of texture and organic earth tones, but let’s be honest—I’m mostly here for creating a fun portrait of a quirky gangly animal offering the observer a side-eye, a few crooked smirks, and way too much audacity and attitude. Each piece is meant to stick its neck out, refuse to take itself too seriously, and deliver an instant dose of unbothered, tall-standing cheer.
