Animals galore and other adventures

Living in the middle of a nature reserve and on the doorstep of so many magnificent Big 5 game parks, there is plenty of inspiration for an artist who not only enjoys wildlife but loves painting them. Living in the guesthouse, our guests are constantly asking me for original artwork they can take home as…

Whale migration

Living in St Lucia we are on the doorstep of the whale migration down from Madagascar along the East coast of South Africa where the whales birth their young, and then follow a route as old as time, to the nutrient rich waters of the Antarctic. These two paintings were a commission and are hanging…

Christmas 2023

For Christmas 2023, I decided to abandon the idea of the traditional Christmas tree and used a wire baobab I had found from a start vendor. It was rusted and had seen better days. The idea was to treat it and then paint it white. After painting on an anti rust protection, I quite liked…

Christmas baubles

I was thrilled to receive a message from Ashley https://www.ashworks.co.za with a request to paint flowers on hand blown glass baubles from Poland. The sizes varied, the smallest being 6 cm in diameter, then 8 cm, and the largest with a diameter of 10 cm. It was one of the most fun projects I have…

Aloes

Still one of my favourite things to paint… Getting started

Dear friends and weddings

The title says it all. Sadly, I wasn’t able to get to Granada for the wedding. I did, however, manage to paint their table centerpiece as a wedding gift by the time their 2nd anniversary had come around! Better late than never!

Once the babies are born, the whales begin their journey south, back to the Antarctic. From mid June right the way through to November we can watch…

Mini canvasses & oversized frames

I have discovered little pocket canvasses that range in size for 7 cm X 7 cm to 6 cm X 8 cm, with the largest size weighing in at 8 cm X 10 cm. I have taken to painting proteas or little vases filled with summer posies and then framing them in oversized frames .

Fabulous flowers & a summer art exhibition

Preparing for an exhibition involves a huge amount of work and not something you can do the night before, so for the last 6 months I have slowly been building up artwork for the exhibition that will be taking place in the La Lucia mall in Durban from 24 November 2022 to 11 December 2022.

Upcycled treasures

Upcycling or creative reuse is one of my favourite pastimes especially when it comes to old frames that either have photographs or paintings in that don’t appeal anymore. These particular frames I bought years ago in an interior design store filled with shabby chic delights. The photographs that filled the frames originally had faded beyond…

My Greek Odyssey

This commission of 6 vases of flowers flew to Greece to hang in a clients holiday home.
