Big beef

Have any of you read Gerald Durrell’s books? He’s one of those authors from another generation who dont seem to be so popular today. I grew up reading his books. He was a naturalist, zookeeper, and conservationist. There was so much humour and adventure in his search of animals around the world that he details in his books. He used to task the local population with helping hunt down what he was looking for. In West Africa the locals referred to the big animals as “big beef” and the smaller animals as “little beef”. These are paintings of “big beef”.

No I don’t think I have read any of Gerald Durrell’s books, BUT, I HAVE seen the tv series “The Durrell’s in Corfu”….so I kinda feel like I KNOW what Gerry is all about! Nice work here Eileen – I love it, the lion is my favorite!
