Hands and feet

During the last week I have been sketching hands and feet.  6 to be precise, 3 studies of each.  Running a guesthouse and maintaining everything is often a juggling skill that keeps you on your toes.  There is always something that needs replacing, repairing or fixing.  We just did the roof which took a rather large chunk out of the kitty, and now we are coming up to May and June which are quiet months for us where we do all our renovations and maintenance.  Some things have to be done, while others can stand over to next year.  Then there is what I refer to as decorative distraction.  Something thats looking a bit tired, but can get away with not undergoing a complete renovation just yet allowing us to focus on what needs immediate attention!  This post is about how I have employed the concept of distraction for a bathroom that needs a little something to make it interesting and distract from the fact it is becoming due for an overhaul!

The following sketches were done with the idea of hanging them on the bathroom walls.  I don’t know about you, but I love art in bathrooms and this bathroom is large enough to have enough space to hang artwork.  Once the bathroom is complete with its lick of paint, and sketches hung I will post another blog post detailing the transformation.  For now, here is step one towards Project Distraction….
