Christmas 2023

For Christmas 2023, I decided to abandon the idea of the traditional Christmas tree and used a wire baobab I had found from a start vendor. It was rusted and had seen better days. The idea was to treat it and then paint it white. After painting on an anti rust protection, I quite liked the effect, so I left it rather than painting the wire tree a bright white.

Lights first, and they would be a permanent fixture. Not a chance was I going to detangke them from the wire.

It had lots of places to hang my Christmas collection, and I loved the result. It was bright, colourful, and a one and only original. Phil made the base for me to stabilize the tree. We couldn’t have it toppling over and destroying my precious collection. A real African Christmas!
