As a working artist I paint daily anyway, but these little daily painting squares offer me a a platform to develop ideas and concepts, and play with colour and methods of palette knife application. Daily painting is like target practice, it keeps you painting fit so to speak. They’ll ultimately help your larger paintings. The I5 cm X 15 cm little squares take me under two hours if I include the prep time to paint them, which still allows me time to get to my commissions, teaching and exhibition work. Most importantly it creates small affordable art of good quality allowing those to buy art on a budget.
