For the last year or so I have been raising funds to assist with protection and saving of our Rhino. Initially as a guesthouse we supported local anti-poaching units, but I wanted to take this further. As an artist living in a guesthouse I have access to a large amount of international tourists who stay with us throughout the year. This was the perfect platform to not only raise awareness for the plight of the rhino, and educate people as to why this was so vital, but to actually raise funds for these beautiful animals. I started painting rhino and making my rhino paintings available for sale from my art studio at the Santa Lucia Guesthouse. All profits from the sale of my rhino paintings I collect and donate either to anti-poaching units in the surrounding parks, or to African Wildlife Vets (Link embedded).

African Wildlife Vets is a non-profit organisation with the primary aim of assisting wildlife organisations with the conservation of threatened species by providing essential veterinary support. An important aspect of conservation is wildlife veterinary care which this NGO offers. African Wildlife Vets assists with the continued conservation of threatened species by providing veterinary services through the funding of personnel, veterinary equipment, and medication.

This particular Acrylic painting of a rhino will be making its way to New Zealand once lockdown lifts enough allowing me to arrange for postage.

I know in current times there is not a lot of spare money, and frugality is required as we do not know how long this virus will effect us all, and the world economy. The vets and other support staff are still out there in the bush, dust and mud fighting to keep these beautiful animals and other wildlife safe and healthy during lockdown.
