A friend referred to these paintings as Fauve. I didn’t think about it like that at the time but they are. Especially if you look at the definition of what Fauvism is. “Fauvism is the style of les Fauves, a group of early twentieth-century modern artists, whose works emphasized painterly qualities, and strong colour over the representational, or realistic values retained by Impressionism.”
