As I am sure most of you who know me and follow my blog know how near and dear rhinos are to me. Earlier this year I made a commitment to donate all profits from the sales of my rhino paintings and prints to the preservation and protection of our rhino.

In August of 2019 it was announced that 318 rhinos had been poached in the first 6 months of this year. There has been a steady decline in the rhino population, especially over the last 2 years. Currently the white rhinos are seeing higher poaching levels than that of the black rhino, because they generally live in more accessible open habitats than that of the black rhino. Rhinos across the globe are being threatened by uncontrollable poaching to supply illegal markets. Despite counter poaching efforts by dedicated individuals, rhinos continue to be poached at unprecedented levels throughout Africa to meet the demand for bogus medicines and potions made from rhino horn.

Our rhinos need to be preserved, and until the market in the East for rhino horn is addressed the only way of saving our rhino is to support rehabilitation centres, and the anti poaching units.

I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all those who have liked, shared, spread the word, placed orders for and bought my rhino paintings. I want to take this opportunity to not only say THANK YOU, but to explain how this works:

There is not a large profit margin on sales from the paintings – So what we do is pool the money from all the profits generated from the sales, and we put it towards purchasing items needed on the ground for the protection and preservation of rhinos. This can be as simple as purchasing torches, replenishing batteries for torches, raincoats for anti-poaching units etc – whatever is needed depending on the amount of money available. Your money is well spent and goes directly to protecting and preserving the rhino.

Currently all my rhino paintings have sold. I hope to paint some more in this coming week with the lead up to Christmas. Should anyone wish to order rhino paintings as a christmas gift, or just because they love rhinos please message me – I can do custom orders to any size.
