Portrait of a Zebra

Portrait of a Zebra is the beginnings of a wildlife series I will be doing inspired by where I live. St Lucia is a small village with a population of about 1000 permanent residents.  It is the gateway to the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, South Africa’s first World Heritage Site. It is located on Zululand’s Elephant Coast, between the Indian Ocean and the Lake St Lucia Estuary, and is the only town located in a Natural World Heritage Site.  The iSimangoliso Wetland Park has 4 of the Big 5 – elephant, buffalo, rhino, leopard and lion.  It is only lion that are not found in this park.  We have a gentleman’s agreement with the leopards…. The 19 odd leopard that live in and around town are shy and tend not to bother the inhabitants other than indulging in the odd pet for dinner that wander around after dark.  Lion I think would a bit of an issue for pet and man alike….
