A bit of artistic license has been used in this painting as the instructions were very specific. It had to be a hibiscus, and it had to be blue. I certainly don’t have a blue hibiscus growing in my garden, and to be honest I am not even sure if there is such a cultivar. I used a peach coloured hibiscus from the garden as the source of my inspiration.

I have a blue “rose of sharon” in my garden. Althea syriacus, woodbridge, I believe.
I googled them, they are beautiful! Hibiscus is the one flower that does grow here reasonably well. I have discovered though some colours of hibiscus grow better than others. Red and the peach coloured ones do well. The other colours not so well. I was wondering if the soil acidity needed to be different for the other colours.
