This was a study of a stainless steel goblet. It had a highly reflective silver surface which captured the light and abstract shapes reflected in it beautifully. It was done with a very limited palette on canvas with a neutral grey ground colour.
Colours used:
•Titanium white
•Burnt umber
•Ultramarine blue
•Mars black
•Burnt sienna
•Yellow ochre

Blocking out the darker areas
In this stage I concentrated on building up the contrasts with layers and adding ultramarine blue to the colour palette.
In the final stage below after adjusting colours and contrasts yellow ochre was added to create a rich warmth in some of the more yellow reflections and a light yellow ochre wash on the background.
