Impressionistic Landscape

I am trying a more painterly approach in an attempt to create an impressionistic feel to my work. Landscapes are a new genre so style, technique and subject matter are all very strange to me. I have used a watercolour technique in some areas, applying very thin washes to the under-painting and then building on that. In other areas a more impasto oil painting technique and glazing was used.

Before painting a coloured ground of titanium white and raw umber was applied to the canvas. For the painting the following colours were used:

Titanium white

Burnt umber

Ultramarine blue

Raw sienna

Phthalo blue (green shade)

Yellow ochre

Cadmium yellow ( light)

Permanent Alizarin crimson

Acrylic Glazing Liquid Gloss
